Exchange versus bookmaker
A bookmaker sets the odds and keeps a margin built into them. An exchange sets nothing. The odds come from users, and the platform usually earns a commission on winning bets. Exchange prices can be better on busy markets, because there is no margin built in. On quiet markets, there may be few offers, so you may not find a price you want.
